Williams Santa Gertrudis

Williams
Santa Gertrudis stud was started by Donald and Amy Williams in 1975 with a few
stud cows and a bull. There were
already cattle on the farm “Scotston” of Brahman and Devon type and adapted
to the heat humidity and tick borne diseases of the Lowveld.
The new breed promoted itself quickly with good performance and an
upgrading programme was introduced. For
many years now we run only registered purebred Santa Gertrudis. |

We have two breeding seasons:
A three month summer season, predominantly natural service and a six week
winter season of A.I. in order to introduce new bloodlines.
Selection stresses fertility and structural soundness and in our high
rainfall, tall grass, sourveld environment we find that a hardier more muscled
animal predominates. |
